No words spoken everything is known
She stands behind me so I’m not alone
Tenderly braiding my long blonde hair
With every tug I hear a silent prayer
Silence is poetic when nothing makes sense
No facades conveyed no false pretense
Her strength is my foundation with nothing to compare
Whispering her hymns with every twist and turn of my hair.

  1. Mother comforting daughter? Best friend? Grandma? Just a female loved one? The mental image that I am given here is one of sadness and strength.

  3. I can relate to that very well at the moment. Life is full of twists and turns. And mostly after a twist comes a healing turn…. Beautiful song to go with, Carisa.

    • Erica, I’m so sorry life has been a struggle for you. It’s sad when people don’t know how to lean with the twists and turns. Usually the harder we try to stay close… The worse it is. When the sun finally shines we count our blessings because we are the ones that are blessed. I hope 2016 is an amazing year for you. 💞💕❤️

      • When I learned something in my life then that every twist is the link to a new way opening up for us. Of course it is not fun when in the midst of it and getting used to new situations or to accept that we have to change something in order to stay true to ourselves (which is a discovery of its own). But with the knowing that what comes after is even better because it is an adjustment to our own growth. A butterfly has to get rid of the cocoon too.. All is well…. 💖

  6. Beautiful poem and a wonderful tribute to a friend. I love your metaphors that are piano hitting the key pear….fect as the English would say. Beautiful there is no other word that can touch this.

  11. Awwww Carisa, this is so lovely. Truly. It reminds me of that movie, “Letters to Juliet” when Claire went in to see the young woman (don’t remember her name) when she was sad and started brushing her hair for her.
    🙂 ❤

      • Oh honey! I’m no hero. Not even close. I am however a woman who is so very, very glad that the heavens saw fit to bring us together.

        • Sweetheart, I love you and only wish to be your friend and cheerleader. We can cheer on the real heroes that save lives and lay theirs on the line everyday.

        • Rita… If I may say this… My husband is one of the ones who saves lives everyday. He cures people.. Finds cancer.. Etc… And he always says the real heroes are the ones who take care of the broken ones every single day. He has said that is what true beauty is. He gave a speech once and he said ….. I am not a hero.. My son and wife are the heroes. He ended with… I have the easy job… They are my heroes.
I won’t argue with you… Because I think I would lose.. Ha!! ;). Just know I think the world of you!!

        • See and I was gonna say your husband is a hero but I didn’t wanna go there – but since ya did! LOL.

OK! We are ALL heroes in some way.

  13. Beautiful you southern belle.

Hey yo! What´s with this Hector dude….not cool he goes to school, I´m so cool I didn´t even finish school. Actually if you stop to read the commentaries…..yeeeha! Just once in a while, very once in a while that is. Not much for gossip.

Hey…yo! How come you put your hair all over your face in the gravatar, can´t see your face and that, is a disgrace

  14. I love this 💕 my mother spent hours French braiding my hair, fish tales, braids I don’t know the name of. She never pulled either, that’s love ❤️

in my opinion, there is no greater friendship than the one between two women. thank you, carisa for all the times you’ve encouraged me and supported me…stood behind me and braided me hair while i cried. i’m so honored that i got to do it for you. all my love.

  21. Oh man, what a major throwback it was for me, both the song and your words too. My mom used to braid my hair all the time when I was little, beautiful memories. And that song is just unbelievably amazing…Everytime I hear it, it reminds me Grey’s Anatomy!
